Community Resources

unnamedOur community is amazing. On June 30th, Saturday, in response to current events, Voyages Preschool of Mar Vista quickly organized an old-fashioned lemonade stand and bake sale to raise money in a developmentally appropriate way for ages 2.5-5 year-olds in support of Keeping Families Together.

Thank you to every family who showed up to work the lemonade stand and all those who donated baked goods. Thank you to every West Coast Collaborative Preschool Director, encompassing Mar Vista, Santa Monica, Culver City, who helped to spread the word in their community. This was beyond successful. We had a bit of a hiccup when setting up because we didn’t realize that while we had permission from Cesar, the manager from Floyd’s Barber Shop on Venice Blvd., we were within the jurisdiction of The Grandview Farmer’s Market. The manager of the Farmer’s Market let us stay. Not only did she let us stay, but she gave us a better location! The children stepped up and handled the table like pros. At one point, we ran out of lemonade and everyone worked hard to make more! We worked the old-fashioned citrus juicers all morning and raised $1,126.95!!!

We are so proud of our wide-spread community! Thank you for coming together and taking a stand for children and families everywhere!
